What the CPNU is and what you can search by name
The Consulta de Procesos Nacional Unificada (CPNU) is the Rama Judicial's public case-search tool. It supports searches by filing number, person or company name, among other criteria listed by the Judiciary.

The CPNU searches information that the courts publish in the national lookup.

Choose the person or company-name search
Select the criterion for the party you are looking for. For an individual, enter their name; for a company, use its registered name.
Enter the name as it may have been registered
Start with the full name. If no matches appear, try reasonable spelling variations or the company name shown in the case documents.
Compare matches before selecting one
Review the filing number, court, city and available party details. Do not attribute a result based on the name alone: several people may share it.

- Confirm that the person or company appears as a party and check their role.
- Save the complete filing number so you can return to the same case.
- Review the court and docket entries shown in the public search.
- If a case is confidential or some details are not published, the search may show limited information.
If the search does not find the case
A search with no results does not by itself prove that no case exists.
- Check the spelling, surname order and company name used when the case was filed.
- If you have the filing number, search by number in the CPNU; the filing-number guide explains its 23 digits.
- If you only have an identity document, try the TYBA search in its Citizen tab.
- The Rama Judicial notes that some courts use systems other than TYBA; the CPNU includes cases registered in multiple applications. Use the right search tool and confirm details with the court when needed.

Why might a case not appear?
Check the spelling and try the name or company name used when the case was registered. The case may also be confidential or its details may not yet appear in the public search.
