Judicial case file watch in Costa Rica: find out the same day what moved
Every case file you register with its number is checked every day against the Poder Judicial's Sistema de Gestión en Línea. When the status changes, the file moves to another office or a new ruling appears, Custodio tells you what changed and leaves the source next to it.
The lookup is public and free. What it does not do is tell you.
The Sistema de Gestión en Línea answers without a username or a password: you type the case number and it returns the status, the office the file sits in today and the rulings issued. What it does not do is look for you: if the court records a ruling on Tuesday, on Friday it is still on the same screen, just as new and just as unread.
With twenty or a hundred open case files, going in one by one every day is not sustainable, and the day you skip is the day that matters. Custodio runs that lookup for you, every day, on every case file you have registered.
This is how Custodio follows a Costa Rican case file
You register the case file once
You type the full number — two digits for the year, six for the sequential, four for the office and two letters for the subject matter — and Custodio validates it as you save, so one extra digit does not leave you following somebody else's file.
Custodio checks the portal every day
Custodio queries the portal once a day, overnight, for every open case file you have registered. Nothing to click and nothing to remember.
It compares the status and the rulings
Each case file returns its status with the date it was set, the office it sits in today and the list of rulings. Custodio compares that against what it already had: a status that changed, a transfer between offices or a ruling that was not there is the new action.
It tells you with the source, not with an empty alert
The alert arrives with whatever caused it — the new status, the transfer, the ruling — and its date, inside the matter for that case file. You read what the court recorded before deciding what to do.

Can I find a client's case files by name?
To watch an active case file, Custodio needs its number, which is how it is identified in the Sistema de Gestión en Línea. For a background, the Archivo Judicial searches by party name and answers without an account: what it returns are case files already sent to the archive.
How often does Custodio check the portal?
Once a day, for every open case file you have registered. Custodio tells you when something changed; if the court recorded nothing, it doesn't interrupt you.
Does it also follow the notices published in La Gaceta?
Yes. The Boletín Judicial was folded into La Gaceta, and Custodio downloads today's issue and yesterday's, isolates the Poder Judicial's notices and keeps the one that names one of your case files, with the date and the link to the issue.
Which case number does it accept?
The Costa Rican one: two digits for the year, six for the sequential, four for the office and two letters for the subject matter. And one detail that matters: the office inside the number is the one of origin, so Custodio reads the current office from the status — if the file is transferred, it does not lose track of it.
Does it compute Costa Rican procedural deadlines?
Yes. Costa Rican terms are computed on the country's business-day calendar, with the rule cited alongside: the Código Procesal Civil, the Código Procesal Penal, the Código Procesal Contencioso-Administrativo and the Código de Trabajo each count differently, and every term rests on its own article. The catalog has been collated against SINALEVI and is pending the signature of a Costa Rican lawyer.
