"Doesn't train on your documents" is a sentence any site can write. This page doesn't leave it loose: it states since when it applies, which provider publishes it, what happens to the file you upload, and what this very page can't promise.
What zero data retention actually means
The text-generation provider Custodio uses today, Nebius Token Factory, has zero data retention activated on Custodio's organization since 4 September 2026. Per what that provider publishes: inputs — the text sent to it — and outputs — the text it returns — are not stored in its systems after processing each request, are not used for speculative decoding, and are not used to train, fine-tune or improve any model, its own or a third party's.
The embeddings provider, Voyage AI, has its own zero data retention active since 12 August 2026, with the same forward-only scope.
What happens to the document you upload
The original file is processed and not kept. What remains is the text Custodio extracted and the document it came from, linked to the filing that produced it — never the file itself, a cloud link, or an identifier for the provider that processed it along the way. If the original disappeared entirely tomorrow, the extracted text would still be the only possible reference to what it said, and that same text is exactly what the AI reads to answer.
Encryption and access control
Data at rest is encrypted with AES-256-GCM; data in transit, with TLS. Access is separated by firm and by role, so one firm's matter isn't visible to another even on the same platform.
What this page does not promise
- It's what the provider publishes, not a Custodio audit. Zero data retention is Nebius's own claim about its infrastructure; Custodio cites it, it doesn't independently certify it.
- It's forward-only, not retroactive. The commitment runs from 4 September 2026; it says nothing about what passed through the system before that date.
- It doesn't explicitly cover everything. The provider doesn't clarify whether the scope includes abuse-detection logs or streaming responses.
- Two alternate providers — Anthropic and z.ai — are registered on the platform and receive none of your data today. If either were ever activated, this same page would have to state, with its own clause, whether that provider offers the same zero data retention — and today it doesn't.
How to try it before deciding

- Ask the system something specific about that document and check that the answer cites where it came from.
- Read the full Section 14 of the privacy notice, with the exact zero-data-retention clause.
- Compare this page against what any other provider publishes on the same topic — not all of them state it with a date and a named provider.
